Bulls Wake Sleeping Dragon

While Environment Canada called for a storm in the Lethbridge area on Thursday evening, another storm was brewing and in a flash flood like time frame the Mavericks found themselves up 7-1 in just the top of the 3rd inning.

The game finished 13-1 in favor of the Mavericks and with that ending a losing streak that will be referred back to for years to come.

Nolan Rattai, Sal Rodriguez and Cameron Pope each had 2 RBI’s for the red and white while Freddy Walker got on base in each of his first three hits and more importantly scoring each time.

Not only did the red and white come alive at the plate where every single batter recorded a hit in the contest for the first time this season. Jaymon Cervantes showed no mercy lasting all five innings (rained out) on the mound, allowing just six hits and one earned run on his way to his first win of the 2019 campaign.

Although there is work to be done, the Mavericks are preaching a “one day, one game at a time” mantra as they make a push to climb up the standings and earn the ever so important home field advantage come playoff time.

While the monkey is off the back and the Mavericks can now focus on just “playing baseball”. It couldn’t be a better time for the squad to return home to host the Edmonton Prospects starting a three-game series tonight with opening pitch going at 7:05 pm.
